Commissions:
What are they? How do they work?
A
Commission is a piece of artwork created specifically for the client
by the artist.
Limerick
Printmakers Studio and Gallery are uniquely placed in the
environment to provide an
artwork commissioning service. Not only are we a
working artists studio but we also exhibit the best in contemporary
limited edition prints from the region.
If you
require a print to be created specifically for you, for business or
pleasure, it can be arranged by Limerick Printmakers Studio
& Gallery. Alternatively if would would like to buy, or gift work,

We work with
our professional artists and commissioners to match their needs while allowing
the full creative process to take place. Opportunities such as
commissions help our artists push the boundaries of their own
practice by making work for new environments and audiences.
Des Mac
Mahon, Fiona Quill and Suzannah O'Reilly were commissioned to
produce a series of 6 editioned prints (a total of 58 prints) for the high end
luxury apartments in the
landmark Riverpoint Building, Bishops Quay, over looking the Shannon
River in Limerick City. Below is a selection of the commissioned
works.

private commissions for individuals.
The
procedure for a commission is as follows:
1. Think
about what you want? Is there something specific you want with
regard to:
-
Size: Do you know where the piece will be hung?
-
Colour: Do you want to match the piece to an existing interior?
-
Artist: Have you a particular artist in mind?
-
Medium:
Do you have a preference for the type of print you would like? Would it be etching, lithography,
silkscreen?
-
Who
will be viewing the work: Is it for a school, a business
or a private home? We can match you with an artist who would
make work which is suitable for your environment.
-
Framing: Whether you would like us to have the work framed? We can provide
specialised museum quality framing from Normoyle and Frawley
Framers.
-
Installation:
Would you like the work installed in your premises or home?
-
Budget:
Do you have a minimum or maximum amount you can spend?
-
Time: Do you have a deadline for the commission?
2. Contact
Melissa or Kate at Limerick Printmakers Studio & Gallery on 061
311806 or at limerickprintmakers@gmail.com, and they will start the process. They will
arrange a meeting with you in person to go
through the above questions and to assess exactly what your
needs are. This process ensures your requirements are
understood and that you can be matched with
the most suitable artist. We can also arrange a site visit at
this point if advice on placement or sizing is needed.
3.
Following the first consultation a meeting will be set up at the Printmakers Studio where you will be shown a
variety of artists work which relates to your preferences. You can decide on artist, style
and size at this point.
4. After
you agree on an artist and your specific artistic requirements
are confirmed, Limerick Printmakers Studio & Gallery will
contact you in
writing to confirm the commission, set the price and confirm completion
date.
5.
Limerick Printmakers will then deliver the completed commission to
your location and install the artwork if required.
