Limerick
Printmakers Studio and Gallery would like to invite you to their
annual member’s winter show.
This
year, our ninth year, we welcome Sinéad Dineen, Visual Arts
Education, Mary Immaculate College to select and open our show at
8pm on Thursday the 27th of November.
Our
Members include some of Limericks finest artists and printmakers
and we are pleased to introduce a selection of their work from
2008. Some of the 40 plus members include Margaret Becker, Mike
Byrne, Laura Carey, Deirdre Gallagher, Vincent Casey, Wendy Dison,
Clare Gilmour, Charles Harper, Kieran Herlihy, Elaine Hurley, Mary
Meskell, Gavin Hogg, David Lilburn, Breda Lynch, Marian Mc Grath,
Meg Kenny, Dan Kenny, Jane Murtagh, Michael O’Connor, Ya Nan
Wang, Des Mac Mahon, Mary O’Dea, Suzannah O’Reilly, Derek
O’Sullivan, Eithne Deloughry O’Byrne, Fiona Quill, Paul
Tarpey, and Gillian Kenny among others
The
annual winter show in Limerick Printmakers is a selection of work
from 40 studio members. These new works showcase the best of
printmaking in the mid west region. This year’s exhibition
promises to be colour filled and vibrant with the energetic
abstract monoprints of Fiona Quill. The beautiful digitally
printed fabric of Meg Kenny and the colourful repeat patterns in
the collographs of Gavin Hogg. All the prints in the
exhibition are framed or ready for hanging and will all be
available for sale and for collection before Christmas. Unframed
work will also be available for sale in the display area.
Printmaking is a very affordable way to buy art
of high quality and of a collectable nature.
In Limerick Printmakers we give the unique opportunity
every year for members of the public to become ‘Friends of
Limerick Printmakers’. This
special sponsorship scheme gives you the opportunity to directly
support Limerick Printmakers and assist the arts in Limerick.
Scheme participants donate €250 for one year to the studio and
in return receive a Box Set of limited edition collectable prints
by current studio members, 10% discount on all art works purchased
from the gallery and invitations to all exhibitions and events
held at the gallery. This years Box Set will be available from
opening night onwards.
If
you have always wondered how prints were made, and would like to
learn from some of the best printmakers in Limerick, Why not try a
weekend workshop? These comprise of two-day intensive courses and
we have a variety of choices from beginners to advanced in
Etching, Silkscreen and Collograph including a new course in
mezzotint in the New Year.
We
are now enrolling for kid’s art classes in starting in January.
These classes cater from children aged between 5 and 17. We have
experienced teachers who teach arts and craft including
printmaking, teaching assistants and a comprehensive childcare
policy
The
gallery is open Monday to Friday 11am to 5.30pm and Saturday 10am
to 4pm. The winter member’s exhibition will close at 5.30pm on
Tuesday the 23rd December.
