Des Farrell: new works                                                                        2nd April – 23rd April 2009

In the Pockets of God

Limerick Printmakers are very pleased to present in the pockets of God, An exhibition of new works by Des Farrell on Thursday the 2nd of April at 8pm. The exhibition will run until Thursday the 23rd of April.

Farrell’s new gathering of sculptural assemblages and printed images gives the viewer a clear and simple insight into the journey taken to create these works.

With the emphasis as always, firmly directed in the creation of the modern day artifact, Farrell gathers physical information from pre-selected geographical locations and reinvents their sense of place and history.

The viewer is taken through a series of catalogued town lands, place names and objects, which have been merged together to create a solid collection of hybrid visual data.

Des Farrell is a native of Castleblayney, Co Monaghan. He studied Sculpture in Limerick School of Art and Design from 1982 to 1986, since then he has exhibited extensively throughout Ireland and is part of many public and private collections both at home and abroad.
