Limerick Printmakers provide facilities for artists to make prints using a variety of  methods including etching, lithography, silkscreen, relief and monoprint. Artists join on a membership basis and can avail of various different levels of access from daily to yearly. The option of 24 hour access is also available within the yearly membership. Members have added benefits which you will find in the membership section.

The establishment of the studio in Limerick means  that artists can work freely without having to leave the area altogether or for long periods of time.  It is unique to the Mid West Region in that the only other studios in Ireland are over 60 miles away and located in Dublin, Galway, Kildare and Cork. At present there are approx 40 members working in the studio.

Limerick Printmakers also provide opportunities for the general public in the form of classes for adults and children, workshops and demonstrations in schools and other venues.

A regular contemporary exhibition programme provides a much-needed venue for artists to exhibit their work as well as introducing and promoting different artwork and  methods to the general public. Limerick Printmakers host exhibitions in a variety of mediums on a monthly basis. Held in the gallery space the Open Submission Print show has now become an annual event with the 2008 show selected by our own studio member printmaker and artist Suzannah O'Reilly. Artists are asked by open call to submit up to three prints, any scale and medium as long as they contain an element of printmaking.  This year over 200 prints were submitted with applications from Japan, America, Canada, Wales, Belgium and all over Ireland. Previous selectors include Cóilín Murray, Chris Doswell and Siobhan Piercy.

2009 has seen Limerick Printmakers come together with Contact Studios and Limerick Ceramics Works to hold C: Inside,  open days of the visual arts and a series of evening events in Limerick City from in May.  This two-day event supported Riverfest, Limericks biggest annual event designed to showcase and celebrate all that's great about limerick city, from the resource of the river Shannon, to music, sporting, fashion, artistic, food communities and many more.

Limerick Printmakers received their first revenue funding from the Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon in 2003. This revenue funding was continued and increased each year since then. Additional Arts Council Minor Capital Grants in 2004, 2005 and a major grant in 2006 for equipment and renovation have supported the development and progress of Limerick Printmakers facilities.
