artists statement:

My work attempts to push the boundaries between art and graphic design. I believe that some of the most interesting art being produced at the moment is coming from artists with a design background (Banksy, Stefan Sagmeister, Daniel Eatock, Shepard Fairey, etc).

Much of my inspiration comes from my own surroundings. I find a lot of beauty in decay – both urban and rural. As a graphic designer, iconography plays a large part in my work. In society we are bombarded with visual imagery and simple icons can have a hypnotic effect in the way they communicate with us.

I am interested in producing art that is affordable and relevant to people who may not normally have an interest in fine art. I use mediums such as print (silkscreen, etching) and spraypainting (using hand-cut stencils). This allows me to produce multiple editions of each artwork. The majority of my work is photography based, but I generally use this as a starting point.
