 artists statement:

My printmaking includes carborundum, drypoint and photo etching and my current work also uses various forms of digital print combined with monoprint, monotype and collage. I like to combine recurring elements with the once only ingredients that make each work in a series unique and unrepeatable. Much of my work is a response to the landscape and history of rural Ireland. The inspiration for this work derives from an engagement with the past as revealed through relics. The abandoned farmhouse of rural Ireland, old photographs and documents, the ephemera of daily live that survives by chance, rusty implements found in ditches and ruined barns, all have stories to tell and ghosts to reveal. The work that emerges may not tell a story in a linear way, it is more likely a meditation on the way the past emerges into the present.

I am also a painter, my preferred media being acrylic and graphite. Painting and printmaking each inform the other with ideas crossing back and forth regularly. The use of mixed media which began in my prints is now finding its way into my paintings and I might incorporate pencil or graphite into either as drawing and line are central to my practice.
