The RTÉ lyric fm presenters are Paul Herriott, (In Tempo), Máire Nic Gearailt, (Lyric Notes), John Kelly, (The JK Ensemble), Niall Carroll, (Classic Drive), Marty Whelan, (Sunday with Marty) Eamonn Lawlor, (The Lyric Concert), Gerry Godley, (Reels to Ragas) Eileen Dunne (Classic Melodies with Eileen Dunne), Ellen Cranitch, (Grace Notes) and Bernard Clarke (Nova). Their reasons for choosing music ranged from a purely personal love of music, to listeners favourites, to reflecting the first 10 years of RTÉ lyric fm.

Each Limerick Printmakers Studio & Gallery artist received a presenter’s music and made their work in response to the music. Mike Byrne, Suzannah O'Reilly, Des Mac Mahon, Gavin Hogg, Fiona Quill, David Lilburn, Cóilín Murray, Pamela Dunne, Charles Harper and Clare Gilmour are the artists selected. The prints are all made in Limerick at the printmaking studio on Robert Street, just across the road from RTÉ lyric fm’s base.

The artists were asked to listen to the music and respond to it in any way they chose, so their response could be personal or social and civic, literal, analytical or emotional, or could focus on the lyrics or technical aspects of the score. The type of printmaking used in the box set is also the choice of the artists so methods include collographs, monoprint etching and silkscreen. Styles vary depending on the artist, from the abstract patterned works of Gavin Hogg to the energetic painterly multiple plate etchings of Coílín Murray, Des Mac Mahon’s urban monochromatic triptych with innovative use of materials, to Suzannah O’Reilly’s elegant prints, Clare Gilmour’s futuristic collographs and Fiona Quill’s vibrant heavily textured layered monoprints.

Artists Des Mac Mahon, Gavin Hogg, Charles Harper, Dave Lilburn, with Aodán Ó Dubhghaill (Head RTÉ lyric fm), Melissa O'Brien (Director Limerick Printmakers) and Artists Clare Gilmour, Pamela Dunne and Mike Byrne.

This limited edition set of unique prints is a must-have collectable for music lovers, fans of RTÉ lyric fm and lovers of art in general. It’s suitable for anyone whether they are a seasoned buyer or it is their first venture into buying an original piece of art. Each set is available for €2,800.
